Happy Birthday Chili - (my future son-in-law)

My future son-in-law is a farmer with a full time job. He is a great guy and has been a part of the family for about 9 years now.
To honour his farming roots, I used paper that has the John Deere greens and yellows. I use hemp string with a "plier tool" embellishment. The stamp was one that I had stamped off at a card party but is perfect for a farmer/handyman.
Inside of the card on the left, I used some farming paper that I had found in the same colours.

Happy 28th Chili (aka Scott)!

Another Precious Baby in our Family!

Our cousins, Erin and Rob, just had their first baby, a beautiful girl, Eva Grace.  To honour her entrance into our family, I made this card with a little princess and her court using traditional baby pink colours but using chocolate brown accents. We can't wait to meet you in person, Eva!

25 Years Ago - My First Bundle of Joy Entered this World!

Happy Birthday Julie!

This is my daughter's birthday card. She loves cats and dogs so of course I picked a cat for the front of her card.  I used the Whipper Snipper Cupcake Kitty.  I coloured him in with pencil crayons and smoothed him out with gamsol.  I used candy cane pink glitter to fill in the icing on the cupcake. I also edged the cupcake liner in a dark blue glitter. I used some glaze to whiten his pearly teeth and accentuate the pink nose.  I used the Happy Birthday embossing folder on the baby blue Bazzill cardstock. The bottom of the card is birthday design paper with a blue Happy Birthday Ribbon. I used some Happy Birthday stickers beside the cat for my sentiment. The card was topped off with cornflower blue square brads in the corner of the cards.  Today is her birthday and I just finished her card last night.  She lives about 25 minutes from me but I carried on the tradition and took her out a Birthday donut to celebrate her birthday along with her card. She was thrilled that I remembered the tradition.  Have a good day Julie!

Another Baby Story at Work

My co-worker just had her baby girl this past week.  She named her Abigail. Such a beautiful name!
I celebrated the birth by making a card with chocolate brown card stock. Then used baby pink as the accent cardstock.  The print paper is chocolate brown with pink and beige polka dots.  I used a Whipper Snipper stamp called "Blessings from Heaven" which I coloured with pencil crayons and Gamsol. I topped it off with pink ribbon with brown polka dots holding an embellishment that says "Oh Baby". I also used a decorative edger to add a little "oomph" to the card.  Welcome to the world Baby Abigail!

I am going to be a MOB lady!

No, I am not joining a gang.  I am going to be a Mother of the Bride. My oldest daughter, Julie, became engaged to her long-time (9 years) boyfriend, Scott.  He is a romantic guy and asked her to marry him just after they finished decorating their first Christmas tree at their first home.  Needless to say, our family is thrilled as he is already part of the family after all these years.  So now the excitement of wedding planning is in the air.
Of course, no event can go without a card!  I crafted this card just the other day because I finally settled on an engagement gift to go with the card.  The background paper says "I love you".  I used chocolate brown and green because those are the colours she is favouring for her wedding.  I used a clear stamp for the phrase.  The rings are from Hanna Stamps which I embosed with silver embosing powder and then put a brown crystal embellishment for the diamond.  Now the challenge really begins - finding a MOB dress for the wedding!

Thinking of You

I used this for a simple sympathy card. I was playing around with new stamps, old paper and new punches.
I wasn't totally thrilled with the outcome but of course, not every creation turns out the way you think it will!

Back from a short break

I have not posted in a while due to a vacation to Jamaica, the Christmas rush and then the January blahs. To top it all off, I no longer have my very own scrapping room as I now share my space with my husband who needed to move his home office down to my room.  My motivation to create cards is stifled a little with all of his office gear and supplies taking over the space.  But now that the February sun is trying to shine through those winter clouds, I am hoping to get some positive vibes and get back on track!
